How 1EdTech Members Power Learner Potential
Georgia’s Department of Education provided every district in the state with a 1EdTech affiliate membership. The goal is to create a common vernacular around digital education and help improve teaching and learning across the state through collaboration and innovation. Through the support of 1EdTech, and encouraging standards across the state, officials say districts can more easily support one another, be flexible to change as technology evolves, and work together to find the most effective use of technology in schools and classrooms.
“We have to behave like a Fortune 500 company, and be driven by what the marketplace, our students and teachers, determine are critical needs. To do that, we need to standardize what we do so that we don’t waste time redoing work, and create an easier pathway to whatever comes next. As members, 1EdTech is helping our accomplish our mission”
Georgia’s Department of Education plans to leverage its 1EdTech membership to determine the efficacy of educational technologies on teaching and learning in the state. By encouraging the use of 1EdTech interoperability standards in every district, and leveraging those standards to receive valuable data, the state hopes to determine trends and effects of educational technology to make adjustments when needed and spread best practices across districts.
“Determining efficacy will launch innovation. Technology evolves so quickly that the only way to work with it in a palatable fashion is to have a standardized process to approach it, and find efficient ways to snap it into your teaching and learning ecosystem.”
